April 19 and 20: Easter Weekend
Join us for a coloring contest, egg hunts for older and younger children, crafts, and a themed wagon ride. There may even be a visit from the Easter Bunny!
April 26, 12pm - 3pm: Lodgings Open House
Ever wonder what those cabins look like? Maybe you have friends who don't have an RV, or are planning a family reunion. Come on out April 26 between 12pm and 3pm to see the insides of several of our lodgings. Refreshments will be served. This event is open to non-campers who stop in the office for a map.
May 9 -11: Care Camps & Swap Meet Weekend
Got some stuff rattling around in your RV that is too good to toss out but you just don't need anymore? Bring it here! Campers who want to participate in the swap meet can get a table in our pavilion for $5 (proceeds go to Care Camps) and swap or sell their gently-used items. Don't want to cart it away with you? If items are still in good shape, we'll donate them to a local charity for you!
Campers can also bring items to donate for our second annual Care Camps raffle (raffle ticket fees also go to KOA Care Camps). Finally, we'll give you a great deal: book one night and get the second half off, with all proceeds from the second nights' sales going towards Care Camps.
Learn more about KOA Care Camps, which send children with cancer to camp.
May 23 - 26: Memorial Day Weekend
Help us kick off the season with the opening of our pool! With everyone off from work and school, this is the perfect time to play messy games, make crafts, and compete in rubber ducky races and a horseshoe tournament.
There is a three night minimum for this weekend.
June 13 - 15: Fathers' Day Weekend
Let's celebrate Dad with our first ever Family Olympics. Parents and their kids can sign up to compete in events like the egg carry, three-legged race, and more. Organized activities not your thing? Bring your fishing gear and head to the lake, or pick up some horseshoes in the office and see who'd got the best arm.
Kids 17 and under are free this weekend (although, as always, we ask that there remain a six person limit per site).
June 27 - 29: Everyone's Birthday
Meet at our pavilion Saturday afternoon to enjoy cake and a birthday party with all your new friends. Guitarist Chris Gantzer will be returning to perform, too!
July 4 - 7: Independence Day
Fireworks, wagon rides, horseshoe tournaments, rubber ducky races, messy games, site decorating contests...what's not to love about Independence Day? We won't be having our fireworks on the 4th (they're scheduled for July 5th, instead), so campers can head to an area park to see fireworks TWICE!
There is a three night minimum on this weekend.
July 11 - 13: Dinosaur Dig
Dinosaurs have been spotted on the campground! Join the fun as we dig up a long-gone dinosaur, and help other campers search for the petrified eggs left behind. There will also be a coloring contest and, as always, a wagon ride.
July 18 - 20: International Fiesta
Sign up to bring a foreign delicacy to the potluck, play games from around the world, and enjoy music with Chris Ganzter at the pavilion.
July 25 - 27: KOA Scout Weekend
Get your badge in fire building, scavenger hunts, the coloring contest, swimming, fishing, and more. Enjoy the (hopefully fantastic!) mid-July weather by getting outside and enjoying all the activities we have to offer!
Be sure to come to the Pavilion at 2pm on Saturday, July 26 for A View From the Top, a presentation about birds of prey, given by The Wildlife Center of Virginia.
August 1 - 3: Pirates Weekend
Avast, matey! We hope ye'll be dockin' yer schooner at the Staunton KOA. Bring a pal and compete in Captain Peg-Leg's Three Legged Obstacle Course, and wear yer best pirate duds on the wagon ride to see if ye win a prize.
August 8 - 10: Christmas in August
Santa will be coming to Walnut Hills for vacation this weekend! Join him for a wagon ride and be sure to stop by the pavilion area in the afternoon for our Christmas Party with music by Chris Gantzer.
August 29 - September 1: Labor Day Weekend
The end of summer...maybe, but we're still kicking it with an end-of-summer pool party, chili cook-off, horseshoe and cornhole tournaments, games, crafts and karaoke.
There is a three night minimum for this weekend.
September 12 - 14: VKR Members Weekend
When VKR members book Friday, September 12, they get Saturday, September 13 FREE as our way of saying thank you for being loyal KOA campers.
October 10 - 19: Leaf Peepers
The foliage in the Shenandoah Valley is among the best in the world! Come down to see some beautiful colors and enjoy the Amazing Maze at the playground!
October 24 - 26 AND October 31 - November 1: Halloween
Since having two Halloweens was so popular in 2013, we're going to give you TWO more chances to show off your costume! Ride the haunted hayride, grow magic pumpkins, compete in our costume and site decorating contests, dress up for site-to-site trick or treating, and make a guess at the candy corn jar.
There is a two night minimum on these weekends.
This schedule is still being updated as we finish lining up entertainers. Check back if your favorite event isn't listed!
We reserve the right to change this schedule as needed and, as always, all events are weather-permitting.
