July 4th is my favorite holiday of the year. It always has been. When I was a kid, the town I lived in would shut everything down on July 4th and have a giant party. There would be races, contests, food. The circus would come to town. And in the evening, we would all gather downtown in the park and watch a fireworks show together on blankets, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the amazing display overhead.
It's almost twenty years since I lived in that town, and I remember those holidays very vividly. Although we don't have the resources of the town where I grew up, when I plan the activities schedule for July 4th weekend, I try to create the same feeling for you guys that I experienced as a child. That's why we plan SO MANY things over the two days our campers are here.
This year, I'm pleased to tell you that we've got many of your favorite activities returning: silly games for the kids, a site-decorating contest where you can win free camping, a coloring contest for the kids with a delicious candy prize, a cornhole tournament, candy bar bingo, wagon rides (wet 'n' wild and dry), and a cookout with live music by Kevin Johnson and Augusta Blue.
And, of course, fireworks (weather permitting).
See you soon!
